The House
“Ah… I’ll never forget, this house was built in 1923, and I will always remember my grandma’s story, how she would always look out the window as she was putting lunch on the table, towards the Fort, because she would see the carriage with grandpa coming home from work at the tannery. And I got married and lived in this house. The only thing that drove me out of it were the memories. I said that I cannot let my parents die, and myself become independent at 50-60-70. So, I took my two children, moved into a flat, and said: ‘Now I’m living my own life. I won’t rely on anybody. One must fight, one must go through life alone.’”
