“My parents are to blame that I never attended school, but my daughters do attend it. I’d like to learn to sign my name. I can’t even go to the grocery store without my husband because I can’t read the price tags.”
Snježana is one of the numerous Roma women who did not have access to education in childhood. In her late 20s, she enrolled in first grade of elementary school at the Adult Education Centre. Today, she is tutored by her daughter Željka, who is about to finish fourth grade of elementary school.
